Our Mission: The purpose of Shannon Forest Christian School is to support the Christian home and church by providing quality education from an evangelical, Biblical perspective in order to equip and challenge students to influence culture and society for Jesus Christ.
After many months of prayer and hard work, the Board of Trustees of Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) is excited to announce the formation of SFCS as an independent school! On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the launch of SFCS was finalized as purchase and lease agreements were signed by James Fickling, SFCS School Board Chairman and Mark Auffarth, Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church Pastor. The Board, Administration, Faculty and Staff are excited about this new chapter in the life of our school and for the many opportunities and challenges this will bring to our ministry. As we seek to continue providing a quality educational experience that is Christ-centered, we ask for your prayers in support of the launch of our independent school. Plans are underway for a gala celebration as we begin our new 2014-2015 school year! Watch for more information coming soon!
Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church (SFPC) will be hosting a Celebration Worship Service followed by a reception on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Courtyard. Members and Leadership of SFPC, School Board Members, School Administration, Faculty and Staff will all be present for an official blessing of our school as well as a time of gratitude and celebration. All are welcome to attend!
Congratulations to Shannon Forest Christian School 5th Grade student Emma Ruth Pedersen for being named one of Upstate Parent magazine’s “10 Students Who Make a Difference!” Schools from all over the Upstate were asked to submit one student nomination from the 5th Grade to receive this honor. Nominees were considered based on their exceptional study habits, outstanding classroom performance, hobbies and passions and their desire to strive to make a difference in the lives around them. Terry Tate, Emma Ruth’s teacher, said she shows all the characteristics of a good leader. Emma Ruth participates in our school’s IGNITE Program for gifted and talented students, plays on the Middle School Girls’ Soccer team, is a Student Ambassador and is involved in her church youth group. Congratulations, Emma Ruth!
A group of 11 members of our senior class will be ministering to the people of Costa Rica from Saturday, April 5, through Saturday, April 12. Students making the annual journey are: Kyle Bradley, Seth Garrison, Samuel Glenn, Elizabeth Green, Adam Long, Colin Maier, Cameron Massey, Mike Miller, Nicholas Miron, Amy Spranger and Annabelle Staid. Traveling with the students are chaperones, Daniel Thompson, Brandon Gray and Stephanie Lewis. The group will be working in two locations; La Cuenca and Cot. La Cuenca (literally “the basin”) is home to approximately 800 women and children of Nicaraguan refugees who live in corrugated metal shacks in a “squatter village.”
