ABOUT:
PTF
What is Shannon Forest PTF?
The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) at SFCS is a volunteer group of parents
who work together to promote fellowship, fundraising opportunities, and support
for SFCS administration and faculty.
How Do I Get Involved?
To begin with, support your PTF by joining. Membership forms are available
online (see "Membership Application Form" below). After that, the easiest way to become involved
is to fill out the Volunteer Form by checking the areas that interest you
the most. Volunteer forms are available
online as well (see "PTF Volunteer Form" below). Please always feel free to call the event Chair, Co-Chair, or Volunteer
Coordinator with any questions regarding volunteer opportunities.
Can I Help if I Work Full Time or Still Have Young Children at Home?
There are many opportunities to help within PTF for all types of volunteers.
The Volunteer Opportunities form lists many task oriented opportunities that
provide specific time commitments so our volunteers know exactly when and
how long a volunteer commitment will take and many can be done on your own
time. PTF would like for every parent to have the opportunity to become involved.
Who Is The Board of SFCS PTF?
The PTF Board is comprised of the Executive Board (the officers of PTF) and
the Committee Chairs and Co-chairs. The Executive Board consists of the President,
Vice-President, Treasurer, Immediate Past President, and the Volunteer Coordinator.
Current committee Chair and Co-Chair positions are as follows: Casseroles, Teacher Appreciation,
Fall Family Fellowship, School Store/Shirts, Wrapping
Paper, Spring Fling, and Publicity. For
a complete list of current board members, please refer to the PTF board list
found in your summer packets or contact the school office for a copy.

Join today!
There’s no better way to get involved in the life of our school than to join the SFCS Parent/Teacher Fellowship (PTF). There are many differnet volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Volunteer forms are available
online (see "PTF Volunteer Form" below). Becoming a PTF Volunteer is a great way to meet people, have fun, and support the school! If you have any questions,
please contact Jo D. Bowers at jody.bowers@ge.com.
Our Goal Is 100% Participation of Our 421 Families!
How can I be considered
for a PTF Board position? PTF Board positions are open to any parent whose
child/children are enrolled in SFCS. No full time
employees of SFCS or SFPC are eligible to hold office in PTF. If you wish to
be considered for a board position, you can communicate your interest to any
current member of the board. Those names are then submitted to the Nominating
Committee for consideration. Are there other benefits to joining SFCS/PTF?
Becoming involved in your child's school has endless rewards. Not only do you
get an advanced knowledge on upcoming events and activities, but you develop
lasting friendships with the other parents you serve with. Who benefits from
PTF organized events and fundraisers? Events and fundraisers directly benefit
our school. Our events benefit not only the students and faculty, but their
families as well. These events provide a strong sense of community within the
school and allow for Christian fellowship. All money raised through PTF fundraising
efforts goes back to the school. Annually, PTF gives funds to provide our teachers
with vouchers for classroom materials, funds for the Math Team and Mission
Trips, and funds for fellowship opportunities such as Fall Family Fellowship,
New Family events, and Spring Fling to name a few. Each year administration
is asked to give PTF a list of needs for the school. PTF then votes to allocate
additional excess funds according to these needs.
How Often Does the PTF Board Meet?
The PTF Board meets once a month during
the school year and once in the summer. Special board meetings are called as
necessary. Are there any meetings for
parents to attend? The PTF Board holds one "open" board meeting each
year. This year our "open" board meeting has not been scheduled for 2007/2008. This meeting is for parents who wish to attend and who have paid
PTF Membership dues for the current year. This meeting is usually held in January
to offer parents in membership the opportunity to become more involved in PTF
led events for the Spring.
