SFCS Baseball Has High Hopes For 2010 Season

          March 8, 2010 - The 2010 Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) Varsity Baseball team will face the 2010 season after coming off an 8th place state finish in 2009 in the NCISAA 2-A Division. Now, the Crusaders enter 2010 in the 1-A Division, and they are setting their sights to make another run into the state tournament. There is no doubt that there will be some key shoes to fill from previous players graduating, but the team is eager to get on the field and prove they are an elite 1-A contender. Senior Matt Hill is the only returning All-CAA Conference player from last year, but he will be joined by five other returning starters. SFCS has been working out in the weight room, as well as working on their skills on their own on the field throughout the off-season. The Crusaders will be challenged early in the highly touted Greenfield Invitational in Wilson, North Carolina. Not only that, but SFCS will face some key 1-A opponents during the regular season that could be a huge factor in the run toward the state playoffs. Those games, along with the always tough CAA schedule, make the season challenging, but also gives the team high hopesl. The squad will look to open the season on a strong note with a night game at Southside High School at 6:00 p m on Monday, March 6.
