SFCS Varsity Soccer Team Faces A Tough Week
September 29, 2008 - On Tuesday, September 23, the Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) Varsity Soccer team kicked off what would turn out to be a tough week of play. The Crusaders faced Asheville School at home and held the score at halftime to 0-0. However, in the second period, John Kim and David Wood both sent balls in the net making the final score SFCS 0, Asheville School 2. “In reality, it was a much better game than the score suggests,” said SFCS Head Coach Joe Franks. “Overall, the team played hard.”
However, this was not the case on Saturday, September 26. When the final whistle blew at the end of the match, the Crusaders lost 9-0. Coach Franks said, “When the Shannon Forest men traveled to Asheville, they left their work-ethic, aggressiveness, heart and pride back in Greenville. “It is true that Asheville Christian Academy (ACA) has a great team this year, but I didn’t expect my fellows to curl up and die. Needless to say, we will have to shake things up a bit in order to have a better second-half of the season. Overall, I am pleased with my men this year, I just wasn’t pleased with what transpired this weekend.” The team’s next game is at home against Rabun Gap on Tuesday, September 30..
