Baseball - Men's Varsity
Crusaders to Face Asheville School in Final Game
May 7, 2012 - Last week the Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS)Varsity Baseball team went on the road to face Ashville Christian Academy (ACA) and Rabun Gap. Going into these two games, the Crusaders had a record of just 4 wins and 11 losses. In the first meeting with these two teams, the Crusaders lost to ACA 9-3 and were blown out by Rabun Gap 21-0. There wasn't much difference this time around as the Lions of ACA blanked the Crusaders 7-0 pitching a 2 hit game. Young Shannon Forest players Stephen Glenn and Graham Ethridge grabbed the only hits for SFCS. Neil Conover pitched a great game allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run.
The team then traveled to Georgia to face Rabun Gap. Ethridge was on the mound and he kept the opposing team off balance for 2 innings. At the end of the 4th inning, however, the score was 18-0 and the Crusaders were up to bat for the last time for the game. Ben McGrey got things started for SFCS hitting a long ball to the fence that allowed him to grab a double. Ethridge then followed with a single of his own scoring McGrey. Nicholas Miron kept things rolling for the Crusaders and took one for the team when he was hit by a pitch. Shannon managed to score Miron off of an error by Rabun Gap leaving the game 18-2 in 4 ½ innings.
The Crusaders are set to play their last game of the 2012 season Monday, May 7, at home against Asheville School.
