SFCS Lady Crusaders Fall to Eagles & Take First CAA Conference Win from the Blues
February 6, 2012 - The Shannon Forest Christian School Varsity Lady Crusaders traveled to northeast Georgia on Monday, January 23, to take on CAA conference foe Rabun Gap, who is also one of the top 3A teams in the NCISAA. As has been the case all season, the Lady Crusaders got off to slow start and trailed 21-9 after the first period. The Lady Crusaders continued to fight however and remained within striking distance trailing 29-14 at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Eagles proved to be too strong and flew by the Lady Crusaders 64-24 to get the win. Sadie Connor led the Lady Crusaders with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Lily Reid added 4 points and 9 rebounds while Amy Spranger also pulled down 9 rebounds.
On Friday, February 3, the Lady Crusaders traveled to Asheville School seeking their first CAA conference win of the season. The Lady Blues raced out to a 7-0 lead before the Lady Crusaders gathered themselves. The Lady Crusaders fought back to trail 21-17 at the half. The Lady Crusaders came out energized in the 3rd period outscoring the host Blues 16-3 to take a 33-26 lead into the 4th period. Both teams played even in the 4th and the Lady Crusaders secured their first CAA conference win of the season 42-33. Connor had a big night scoring a career high 28 points. Connor also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Spranger added 6 points and 15 rebounds while Katelyn Overby and Kissie Byrd pulled down 6 rebounds each.
