CRUSADER FUTBOL CLUB MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of Crusader FC is to provide players a program that strives to develop them to their fullest soccer potential through high level instruction and an age appropriate curriculum in a Christian atmosphere that helps prepare them to influence the world for Jesus Christ.

Director - Jay Wingo – SFCS Alumnus

crusaderfcendofmatchphotoMr. Wingo is a native of Greenville, South Carolina.  His graduated from Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) in 1977.  From 1980- 1984, Mr. Wingo attended Covenant College and Furman University where he played Soccer for both schools.  Wingo was a 3-year letterman at Furman University.

After college, Mr. Wingo became Director of Sales and Marketing for Soccer Services Inc. in Tallahassee, Florida from 1985 until 1987.  He then opened Near Post Soccer and Fitness Pro Shops, Inc. in Greenville, S.C. in 1987.  The Orlando location opened in 1992, the Augusta, Georgia location opened in 1994, the Knoxville, Tennessee location opened in 1996, and Wingo also co-founded Southern Select Soccer Academy with Van Taylor (Lander University) in 1992.

Mr. Wingo sold and closed Near Post stores in 1998 and founded the Near Post Soccer Training Centers in 1998 - a soccer camp company which held residential academies.  Academies were held in Jekyll Island, Oglethorpe University and Darlington School in Rome, Georgia.   He also conducted community camps and clinics throughout the Southeast.

In September of 2000 Mr. Wingo accepted the position of Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Rome YMCA Arsenal Soccer Club.  During his tenure, he instituted paid trainers for all teams, recruited, trained, and evaluated all recreation and select coaches and began developing a player development curriculum.  In 2002, Mr. Wingo became the Executive Director/Director of Coaching for the Middle Georgia Soccer Association in Macon, Georgia.   As the only full-time employee, Mr. Wingo managed all aspects of both recreational and select programs of the day-to-day operations of the 1,000+ member club until December of 2004 when he began Near Post Soccer Services.

 Parents and Tots Soccer (3-Year Old Soccer)

Dates :            Friday’s beginning March 9 through April 27
Times:                        5:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Cost:               $75 ($65 for SFCS families) - includes program T-shirt for player

 

Soccer "FUN-damentals" for 4 and 5 Year Olds

In-House Program
Dates:              Tuesdays and Fridays beginning February 7 and ending on April 27
Times:             Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Fridays - 3:30 p.m. -5:00 p.m.
Cost:                $105 ($95 for SFCS families)

 

U - 8 Age Group (1st and 2nd Grades)

In - House Program
Dates:              Tuesdays and Fridays beginning February 7 and ending on April 27
Times:             Mondays - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Fridays - 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost:                $105 ($95 for SFCS families)

 

Recreation Soccer – U-10 and U-12

Teams will play CESA Recreation League teams on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Practice will begin Wednesday, February 1. Practices will be on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday and Saturday matches will begin in March and run through Saturday, April 28.
Cost:                $105 ($95 for SFCS families)

 

Academy of Excellence - U-12 through High School

Dates:              Wednesdays beginning January, 11 and ending on February 29.
Times:             3:45 p.m. -5:15 p.m.
Cost:                $75 ($65 for SFCS families)
