Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Department at Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) exists to develop students' creative abilities for the glory of God. Students are offered instruction in four areas of artistic expression: Drama, Music, Visual Arts and Photography. Students are trained in the history, theory and practice of each discipline. Annual concerts, theatrical productions and other events allow students to demonstrate what they have learned. Participation in community events provides students with an opportunity to share their gifts with our community. Competitions and festival appearances give students vital feedback and recognition for their efforts. At SFCS, we seek to nurture the creative abilities of each student and celebrate their accomplishments. Learn more using the tabs on the left.

SFCS Middle & Upper School Student Travel Back in Time

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

On Friday, October 20, the Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) West Campus (US) traveled back in time to the Renaissance Era.  Students came dressed in Renaissance costumes representing royalty, peasants, archers, and warriors.  They learned what it took to be a “Renaissance Man” as they heard about the life and art of Leonardo Di Vinci. The SFCS Theatre class performed portions of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for the student audience standing in a mock Globe Theatre “pit.” The Shannon Singers and Middle School Choir performed “Jubilate Deo,” an a cappella canon, in the style of traveling madrigals.  Finally, with singing came dancing, as students learned a traditional circle dance accompanied by folk music of the day. Before students returned to the present day, they had fun playing dress up and taking pictures in the photo booth.
