IMPORTANT SPRING REMINDERS!
Dear Parents:
"Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself."
--George Bernard Shaw
Spring absolutely came roaring in like the proverbial lion this year and with it brought beautiful sunshine, cool sleeping nights and unfortunate misery for our allergy sufferers. However, the countdown to summer is never more evident than in the High School and Middle School where attempts to get out of work and push the proverbial line in the sand take on a whole new level. As the hectic race to the end ensues, I will try to keep you abreast of important information:
- A big thank you goes to Pam West for her leadership of the Spring Carnival/Auction. If you were fortunate to come on Friday I am sure your children had a great time due to the efforts of many individuals. I would especially like to thank the following individuals for their support of Pam; Santee Coetser, Susan Ellis, Mary Stokes, Faye Dimopoulos, Rennie Newman, Brenda Buchanan, June Deas, Susan Beane, Todd Graham, Susan Dodson, Jane Hopkins and all the PTF Moms (whose baskets were a huge hit).
- A tentative 2010/2011 Calendar at a Glance for SFCS families can be found under All School News on our web site. There will obviously be some additions to this calendar but it should provide you with the key dates needed for your family planning.
- The 2010-2011 Dress Guidelines are online and reflects a desire by Mr. Collins to simplify enforcement. Key items for your notation: a) there is now one guideline designed to embrace attire in Grades 1st -12th on one sheet; b) there is an emphasis on school colors of Forest Green, White, Gold (Yellow) and Black; c) the hounds tooth plaid skirt will be grandfathered in for the 2010-2011 school year for grades 6th -12th ; d) turtlenecks are considered collared shirts and e) please note that collared shirts/blouses in school colors no longer have to bear the school insignia but cannot have a prominent brand logo.
- Fifth Grade will be relocating to the 300 Building. The church leadership has graciously granted dual usage of facility space which will result in both 5th Grade classrooms and the Lower School Library being relocated to accommodate this transition.
- As a quick reminder, May is an extremely busy month. Your child's attendance is important to make sure that they finish strong academically. I encourage you to watch your child's grades closely to avoid the ever present threat of their starting summer break early.
- Spring also brings a period of memory loss for Upper School students. Please be reminded of skirt length guidelines; short and skort guidelines; and other applicable dress code guidelines for spring. Also be mindful of the need for students to adhere to dress code guidelines even when we have events where they are allowed to wear their own dress clothes.
Further information regarding the conclusion of the 2009-2010 school year and preparations for the 2010-2011 school year will be forthcoming in the next weeks.
