Welcome to Accelerated Reader…
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program utilized by Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) that improves reading comprehension. The program is available for all 1st through 5th Grade students.
How it works:
- A student checks out AR books which are designated with a yellow tag on the spine.
- After reading the book the student may come to the East Campus (Lower School) Media Center and take a computer generated quiz.
- Points are earned based on the number of questions answered correctly.
- The student must answer at least 60% of the questions to pass the quiz and earn points.
- The Media Center will be open for quizzing on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- As time allows, students will also have opportunities to take quizzes during Library and in the classroom.
- Each time your child earns two points his/her name will be entered into a monthly prize drawing.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to use their points to “shop” for prizes. Students who have earned over 75 points and maintained an 85% passing average will be recognized at the end of school awards ceremony.
