Math
The Math Department at Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) is formulated to build a foundation in Math in students that will prepare them for acceptance to the college of their choice through high classroom grades and SAT scores. This goal continues after graduation as students are also prepared to succeed when enrolled in college.
- Students receive instruction and practice that prepares them to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT tests.
- The Math Team students are part of a winning legacy that has placedthe SFCS Math Team in the top ten in South Carolina's public andprivate schools for the past eleven years!
- 36 students competed in the ACSI Math Olympics with 17 returning as medalists in their events.
Students participate in numerous Math competitions throughout the year. The teams are as follows:
- Varsity - 9th through 12th Grade students
- Junior Varsity - 7th and 8th Grade students
- Math Counts – 6th, 7th or 8th Grade students
6th, 7th & 8th Grades participate in the American Math Competition in November.
The Upper School Math team competes in the following meets:
- USC Columbia on Saturday, January 30, (9th – 12th Grades)
- Furman University on Saturday, March 20, (8th – 12th Grades)
- 1st – 8th Grade students participate in the annual Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Math Olympics on Friday, April 30.
