Colonel Oliver North Returns to Iraq

HEADLINE STORY
Monday, November 10, 2003

GREENVILLE, SC - An unexpected special assignment to Iraq has required Lt. Col. Oliver North to reschedule his attendance at the Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) Annual Fund Banquet, previously scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2003. The event has been rescheduled as a highlight of the Christmas season on Friday, December 12, at the Palmetto Expo Center in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Director of Development at SFCS, Steve Whaley says, “We were informed by Col. North’s office that his duties as Fox News war correspondent and host of War Stories, have required him to leave for an unexpected special assignment to Iraq. Regrettably he will not be available for our November 21 Annual Fund Banquet.”

“I am relieved to know that his schedule will allow him to be with us only three weeks later,” continued Whaley. Fresh from his return, North will arrive in Greenville to attend a rescheduled event, sharing his perspective on life from this volatile region. He will also share his deeply moving Christian testimony and his passion for Christian education.

All other details of the previously planned evening will remain the same. Greenville’s Liberty Corporation will be the keynote sponsor for this poignant event. “Shannon Forest Christian School is a school of academic and moral strength at a time when America needs broadly educated, morally grounded leaders,” said Hayne Hipp, Liberty Corporation Chairman. “Liberty is pleased to help underwrite this evening of empowerment, intellectual exchange and renewed support for this fine institution.”

News Radio 1330/950 WORD is partnering with SFCS in promoting this event. WORD talk show host Ralph Bristol will be the celebrity emcee for the evening.

SFCS Headmaster Doug McLaughlin, adds, “The family of Shannon Forest Christian School will be united in prayer for the safe return of Col. North. Those same prayers are heard each day for the strength and safety of the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who are defending the security and freedom of our country.”
