SFCS Upper School Students Are Soaring and Scoring High

HEADLINE STORY
Tuesday, January 20, 2004

The hallway of SFCS’s Upper School has been far too jovial for a group of students enduring the pain of exams. However, there’s a very good reason for the celebratory mood of our students. The senior class is on the move to colleges of their choice and the junior class is “busting at the seams” proud of their recent SAT scores!

SFCS Juniors Celebrate SAT success

Upper School Administrator Brenda Hillman says, “This group of students is indicative of the heights that can be reached when you place fertile minds and souls in an environment that promotes academic and spiritual growth.

To date, the Class of 2004 has been accepted at the following colleges and universities:

  • University of Georgia
  • Winthrop University
  • Converse College
  • Southern Methodist University
  • Erskine College
  • Texas Christian University
  • Wingate University
  • University of South Carolina at Spartanburg
  • Anderson College

The junior class has a great reason to be excited at the recent news of their awesome SAT scores!

  • Average SAT score of juniors so far this year: 1272
  • Most recent state average (2003 graduates): 989
  • The national average (2003 graduates): 1026
  • SFCS 2003 average: 1055
  • SFCS 2002 average: 1101

Upper School Guidance Counselor, Jeff Phillips is looking forward to planning the 2004-2005 school year with his students. He added, “I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for the current juniors, given their exceptional abilities. They are also a motivated group of students, which reveals their parents’ and their teachers’ dedication to excellence.”

This upward trend is only the beginning of a solid and exciting future for SFCS. Hillman continued to comment that, “It is a credit to the SFCS faculty and the commitment of their parents to this ministry. I am proud of this group and excited by the potential they carry to impact the world for Christ.”
