Monday, January 26, 2004
by Katie Thackston

If you’ve ever been to Greenville Memorial Hospital and have seen the original art display in the children’s section, you might be curious about who was responsible for its creation. The artists are a group of Upstate students including ten from Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS).

Inez Hannah from Greenville Memorial Hospital said, “The artwork really shows us how family friendly the hospital is. It’s amazing how talented some of the students are.” It was all part of a redecoration plan for the hospital. Six hundred and fifty-four students in 1st through 12th Grades submitted artwork. Ninety-two pieces of art were chosen to decorate the walls.

The panel of judges included Greenville Memorial Hospital staff, volunteers from around the Upstate and professional interior designers.

SFCS students whose artwork was chosen from included Chantelle Bateman, Rachel Blakely, Julie Conard, Ben Van Dyke, Felicia Hartmann, Vanessa Hartmann, Laurie Lusk, Justin Powell and Brooke Seppala. Felicia Hartmann said, “I was surprised, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to have my artwork placed in the hospital display.”

2004-2005 Re-registration Is Just Around The Corner!

Re-registration for current SFCS families for next year will begin on Monday, February 2 and run through Friday, February 13. An open house and enrollment for new families is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17. SFCS Guidance Counselor Mr. Jeff Phillips will soon begin meeting with Upper School students to firm up individual schedules for 2004-2005.

Keep Those Box Tops and Soup Labels Coming

SFCS participation in the Box Tops & Soup Labels For Education Program has been great this year. This program is an easy way for our school to earn money for improvements and enhancements. There is still plenty of time warm up those scissors and clip those labels! Drop-off mailboxes are located just inside the Lower School front door and outside the entrance to the Main School. Thank you for your support of our school!
