A Message From the Upper School

HEADLINE STORY
Monday, February 2, 2004

I wish to once again, thank each and every parent who took the time to attend the Upper School information meetings. It was exciting to see such a high attendance on a weekday evening. I trust you found the time informative and are affirmed that SFCS does listen to your suggestions and respond when staffing and finances permit. The following points are highlights that Upper School families can look forward to in the coming year.

Brenda K. Hillman
  • The Middle School program will be conducted on a modified schedule.
  • The 6th Grade will join the Middle School schedule in 2004-2005.
  • Middle School Fine Arts will be graded on a pass/fail basis and will be conducted on a 12-week rotation.
  • Middle School Physical Education will be teamed with Bible for all 6th-8th Grade students. (45 minute blocks)
  • Upper School electives will include Law Education, Astronomy/Meteorology, Photography and Graphic Design.

Re-registration will be conducted from Monday February 2, through Friday, February 13, for returning SFCS families. Scheduling will be conducted by Mr. Jeff Phillips over the next few weeks. Schedules cannot be confirmed until registration is completed. We are anticipating the opportunity to continue serving a large number of families again next year. Please do not doubt how much we appreciate the sacrifices you make to continue your commitment to this ministry.

In closing, I wish to share an interesting fact I learned today. Psalm 118 is the center of the Bible. There are 594 chapters before and after Psalm 118. If you add those two numbers you get 1188. The center verse in the Bible is Psalm 118:8. “

It is Better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man” Psalms 118:8 NIV

How incredible was the way this worked out or was God in the center? The next time you seek God’s perfect will for your life or desire for you and your family to be in His perfect will, just go to the center of God’s Word.

As always, it is a pleasure to serve you and your family and I look forward to attempting great things in the lives of your children in the future.

In His Service,
Brenda K. Hillman
Upper School Administrator
