SFCS:
An Environment That Honors God’s Creations
HEADLINE STORY
Tuesday, February 17, 2004
The month of February is a critical month in the lives
of SFCS families. It is the month that discussions
of re-enrollment take place at the dinner table. February
is a month where we look back on the year and evaluate
its successes and failures. We take a closer look at
the academic records of our children and develop opinions
of how we feel about their educational and social environment.

SFCS Students |
February is also a time SFCS families discuss their
concerns and suggestions for the coming year with the
Administration of our school. This kind of communication
helps us learn and grow! It is our hope and prayer
that while you are contemplating all of these issues,
you will keep in mind and recommit to the Shannon Forest
Christian School Mission Statement and School Beliefs
as they are printed in this issue.
HEADLINE STORY MISSION STATEMENT:
The purpose of Shannon Forest
Christian School is to support the Christian home and
church by providing quality education from a biblical
perspective in order to equip and challenge students
to influence culture and society for Jesus Christ.
HEADLINE STORY BELIEFS:
- Each student, created in
God’s
image, has unique spiritual, physical,
intellectual, emotional,
and social
needs.
- All learning and school experiences
should reflect biblical integration.
- Teachers, parents and the church share the responsibility
for the support of
the school’s mission.
- Students learn to
make “life decisions” based on the wisdom
and understanding imbued from God’s word.
- A student’s self-esteem is predicted upon
their relationship to Christ and is enhanced by mutual
respect between students and staff.
- Student performance
is enhanced by their obedience to God’s word.
- Instructional
practices should incorporate learning activities that take into account
differences in learning styles.
- Developmentally appropriate
learning activities enhance
learning at
all levels.
- Exceptional students require special services and
resources.
- Students learn best when they are
actively engaged in the learning
process.
- Challenging expectations increase individual student
performance.
- Students learn to make appropriate academic
decisions given a supportive and challenging
learning
environment.
