SFCS is proud to announce that our own Brenda

been awarded the English Speaking Union’s Brockman Scholarship! Only one
drama teacher in Greenville County is selected for this honor which includes
the opportunity to study at the Globe Theatre in London.

Brenda Stephens |
To qualify, Stephens wrote an essay explaining her
approach to teaching drama and described how the scholarship
would benefit her as a teacher and the further growth
of her students. Finalists were chosen to be interviewed
by members of the English Speaking Union.
Stephens’ trip includes airfare, room and board, three Globe productions
and tuition for a
course valued at $4285. Stephens’ exciting adventure will take place from
Monday, July 12, through Friday, July 30. During that time she will work with
other teachers as directors instruct them on particular scenes. She will also
have the opportunity of presenting those scenes on the actual Globe Theater stage.
Stephens will also work with the Globe Education staff and practitioners to explore
practical, active approaches to the teaching of Shakespeare. Congratulations,
Brenda and SFCS looks forward to learning and growing from your
experience!
