Pause And Give Thanks!

HEADLINE STORY
Friday, February 4th, 2005

I wanted to take a few moments and thank you for the efforts so many of you have put forth over the past four weeks. The outpouring of support, prayer and hard work has truly been a testimony of God’s love and the faith that is alive and well on the Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) campus! Special thanks to Booster Club President Ed Murphy for stepping up to organize what promises to be a great SFCS Golf Outing and to PTF President Lynn Price who is hard at work coordinating the efforts of many who are planning fundraising events. I would also like to take this opportunity to update our families on some general information:

  • Through the efforts of many, 35 families attended our recent Community Open House on Friday, January 28. I appreciate the many different individuals who went above and beyond to make families feel welcome and those who provided prospective families with a positive view of SFCS. The feedback from families in attendance was very positive.
  • Over 240 students have re-enrolled for the 2005-2006 school year during our Early Bird Registration. This number is in increase of 100 students from the same time period last year! Please continue to pray for the retention of our current families and for prospective families as they consider SFCS for their future.
  • SFCS parents and interested individuals have stepped up in a big way toward helping us meet our annual fundraising goal of $190,000. As of the end of January, $100,000 has been raised in donations or pledges. This is a substantial statement of the support we receive from our public.
  • SFCS is planning four fundraising events that will assist us in reaching our goal for this year. Further details of each event are included in this edition and more details will be coming to your homes.
  • The Shannon Soirees are fun gatherings hosted by SFCS families. Fun, good food and a donation to our school make these events a perfect way to benefit SFCS. Consider hosting one in your home! (See page 7 for more details.)
  • Mark your calendar now for Saturday, March 12! SFCS will be hosting a Fashion Show and Brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Greenville Country Club. This event will feature our own students as models and the quest speaker will be the reigning Miss South Carolina. (See page 8 for more details.)
  • Friday, April 22, is the date for the SFCS Spring Fling! In addition to rides, games and a cookout, this year the event will also include a silent auction. (See page 8 for more details.)
  • May is the month to look forward to if you’re a golfer! Watch for more details coming soon on the SFCS Golf Tournament to be held at the Greenville County Club.

If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these events, please contact Joanne Heiser at 678-5111. There’s plenty to do, so jump in and get involved!

  • Thursday, February 10, and Friday, February 11, are faculty in-service days. I hope all of you enjoy a nice, long weekend. We have a great deal for which to thank the Lord….Pause and give thanks!!!
