5th Grade students complete
their "trash pizza" |
The 5th Grade
classes recently participated in a SEEDS activity
centered
on the cost we will pay
if we dispose of our waste carelessly. SFCS parent
Susan McNamara shared the book Only A Dream, by Steven
Van Alsburg. Students in the classes of Mrs. Sue Hornbeck
and Mrs. Coby Dixon made a “trash pizza” to
visualize the amount of waste our county produces.
U.S. citizens create 4.5 pounds of waste per person/per
day. This waste amounts to 1500 pounds of waste per
person/per year.
Were You Seeing All
Black & White Last Week?
No, the color wasn’t drained from last Thursday…it
was just Black & White Day in the 3rd Grade classes
at SFCS! Students celebrated the end of their Reading
unit on Mr. Poppers’ Penguins, by author, Richard
Atwater. Students enjoyed a unique black and white
lunch and will be talking about Mrs. Joyce Stocks’ penguin
cake for weeks to come!
