Spiritual Heroes Week
LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
Monday, March 1, 2004
Super heroes. Television heroes. Cartoon heroes.
All of our children have their favorite “super heroes.” Well,
hold on to your capes, because SFCS students in PK3
through 5th Grades are about to unleash the joy and
wonder of their favorite SPIRITUAL HEROES! During the
week of Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12,
PK3 through 3rd Grade students will be visited each
day by a “real” Bible hero. Each classroom
will also participate in a special service project
that will expand the development of each child’s
Christian character.
4th and 5th Grade classes will
participate in poster and essay contests during the
week. Winners will present their works in a special
chapel and will enjoy a special lunch with Lower School
Administrator, Joyce Stocks. Students will also dress
in character and share stories from Hero Tales.
The
Chapel, to be held on Wednesday, March 10, will include
guest speaker, Brent Turner from Devenger Road Presbyterian
Church. He will speak on Christian character. The SFCS
God’s Kids Choir will also provide special music.
The Spiritual Heroes week will end with a Bible Character
Day on Friday, March 12. PK3 through 5th Grade students
will dress as their favorite Bible heroes – bringing
our Spiritual Heroes to life!
Expanded Library Hours
Those students interested in
checking out books from the Lower School Library will
now have more opportunities for hunting down their
favorite books. The Lower School Library will now be
open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30
a.m. to 9:00 a.m. AND Monday through Thursday afternoons
from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Remember, students may
check out only ten books at a time and books are to
be returned within ONE
week. Happy reading!
T-Ball Intramurals Are A Big Hit!
Students in PK4 and K5 may participate in the four-week, SFCS T-Ball Intramurals
Program from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the month of March. Each Wednesday,
March 3, March 10, Match 17 and March 24, students will be escorted as a group
from their classroom hallway, across the street to the playing field. Parents
must pick up their children on the Upper School side of the street at the conclusion
of the program - 4:00 p.m. All students not picked up by 4:00 p.m. will be
taken to PK3 – K5 Late Stay in the Early Childhood Building. Please provide
a baseball glove for your child. Coaches will provide all other equipment.
Remember to dress your child in appropriate clothes each Wednesday, including
athletic shoes. The cost for the program is $20.00. Registration forms are
available in the Lower School Office. Stay tuned for more information on Coaches
