Spiritual Heroes Week!

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
Monday, March 8, 2004

Super heroes. Television heroes. Cartoon heroes. All of our children have their favorite “super heroes.” Well, hold on to your capes, because SFCS students in PK3 through 5th Grades are about to unleash the joy and wonder of their favorite SPIRITUAL HEROES!

This week PK3 through 3rd Grade students will be visited each day by a “real” Bible hero. Each classroom will also participate in a special service project that will expand the development of each child’s Christian character. 4th and 5th Grade classes will participate in poster and essay contests during the week. Winners will present their works in a special chapel and will enjoy lunch with Lower School Administrator, Joyce Stocks. Students will also dress in character and share stories from Hero Tales. The Chapel, to be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 9:00 a.m., will include quest speaker, Brent Turner from Devenger Road Presbyterian Church. He will speak on Christian character. The SFCS God’s Kids Choir will also provide special music. Spiritual Heroes Week will end with a Bible Character Day on Friday, March 12. PK3 through 5th Grade students will dress as their favorite Bible heroes – bringing our Spiritual Heroes to life!

3rd Grade Students Are Off To Columbia

South Carolina history will come to life for SFCS 3rd Grade students as they travel to our state capitol on Tuesday, March 16. Students will tour the State House and the State Museum, bringing into focus all that they have studied for the past several weeks.

Free Student Vision Screening

As a service to SFCS families, Southern Eye Associates has offered to provide free vision screenings to all students in K5 through the 5th Grade. This optional screening is designed to detect any vision problems, but it is not a comprehensive eye exam. Screenings will take place on Monday, March 8, and Monday, March 15, at 1:30 p.m. If you are interested in participating in these screenings, simply return the permission slip sent home with your child by Monday, March 8. If you have any additional questions, please call the Lower School Office at 678.5119.
