Help Plant the SEEDS to Learning!

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
August 27, 2004

One of the wonderful results of the SFCS Parent/Teacher Fellowship (PTF) fundraising efforts of last year and a generous contribution from the Kiwanis Club of Greenville-Eastside was the purchase of the SEEDS Program written by Dr. Mildred Young. Teachers have already received training in this program that promotes thinking skills through the use of children’s literature. Parents are needed to lead these exciting sessions, however advanced training is required. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to be involved in your child’s classroom or any other SFCS classroom! Plan to attend a SEEDS training session on Wednesday, September 1, at 8:30 a.m. in Room 103B on the Lower School Campus.

1st & 2nd Grade Parents…

Learn More About the Riggs Institute Writing Road To Reading and Spelling! All SFCS 1st and 2nd Grade students will be using the Riggs Institute Writing Road to Reading and Spelling. An informational parent meeting about this phonics program will be held on Thursday. September 9, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room 202 on the Lower School Campus. Please plan to attend. Riggs flashcards and/or a CD may be purchased in the Lower School Office.

Shurley English Information

All SFCS 1st through 5th Grade students receive grammar and writing instruction through the Shurley English Method. An informational parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 103B on the Lower School Campus.

Carline Tags

All cars picking up students on the Lower School Campus (PK3-3rd Grade) must have a carline tag displayed in the car window. If you have not received your tag, please stop by the Lower School Office. These tags come in handy on those rainy day dismissals!
