Christian School 4th Grade
Family Fun Nights continue with a
star-filled trip to the Roper Mountain
Science Center Planetarium on
Friday, November 19. The group
will meet at the planetarium for the
7:30 p.m. show, but families should
arrive 20 minutes early to assure a
seat. Word has it that the best seats
are in the back of the auditorium!
Additional shows are available at 8:30
p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The observatory
opens at 8:10 p.m. for an opportunity
to watch the stars. The cost is $3 for
children 6-12 and $4 for adults. There
is a senior rate of $3 for those 60
years and older.
Pioneer Day Takes SFCS Students Back in Time

SFCS
3rd Grade students will once again travel back in
time to experience the ever-popular Pioneer Day on
Friday,
November 19. Classes will enjoy classroom pioneer
crafts and games from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. that
will include
crafting corn husk dolls, quilting, butter making,
playing a spinning wheel game and baking home-made
donuts. At 12:30 p.m., students will enjoy a pioneer
lunch in the SFPC Cafeteria. A feast of possum stew,
corn bread and molasses cookies will take place in
a setting that features period lanterns. The meals
will be served by volunteers in period costumes.
Following lunch, the square dancing fun begins at 2:00
p.m. in
the SFPC Gymnasium. Have your cameras ready for this
beloved SFCS event!
SFCS 3rd Grade Plans Holiday Field Trip
Christmas
is coming and the SFCS 3rd Grade students are looking
forward to a field trip on Friday, December 3, that
will include a presentation of The Best Christmas
Pageant Ever at the Warehouse Theatre and a visit to
the Hyatt
to take in the Festival of Trees. Student will then
enjoy a lunch at Fuddruckers. Everyone raise their
hands if they want to be in the 3rd Grade again!
SFCS 3rd Grade Classes Learn the Art of Candle Making
The SFCS 3rd Grade classes of Annette Boehm and Margaret
McCanless recently enjoyed a field trip to Walnut Grove
Plantation on Wednesday, November 3. One of the highlights
of the trip was learning how to make candles the oldfashioned
way! Students also relived the “Trail of Tears” in
a Peace Center theatre presentation on Tuesday, November
16.
Important Lunch News!
Lower School students will be
dining in their classrooms on Thursday, December
2, due to the annual Thursday morning Bible study brunch
in the Lower School Cafeteria. It is very important
that all lunch orders include specific instructions
as to the type of chips, ice cream and milk your
child
wishes to order. If none is specified, the staff
will make a selection. No substitutions may be made
on this
day. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in
this matter.
