Christian Author Bill Myers |
Popular Christian
author, Bill Myers recently paid a visit to the SFCS
Campus. The event was in conjunction
with the recent Takehome Book Fair with Thomas Nelson
Publishers. Myers spoke to students in 3rd through
6th Grades about his life as a Christian author and
film director. He shared his many life adventures since
his decision to always say “yes” to God
including being lost in the Amazon Rain Forest and
visiting Mt. Everest. Myers ended his visit by autographing
books for the students. He also visited with 6th Grade
students, teaching them about the writing process and
assisting them in beginning a story of their own.
Upper & Lower Schools Enjoy the “Adopt An
Athlete” Program
SFCS Basketball season has begun and with it comes
the ever-popular “ Adopt An Athlete” Program!
Each member of the school’s Varsity teams has
been assigned to partner with a class in the 1st through
5th Grades. The result of that partnership is played
out in lots of fun and support of our athletes. “I
truly believe we have some of the finest student athletes
here at SFCS,” says Athletic Director Rita Harrell. “If
given the opportunity, they can have a tremendous influence
on our younger people” Athletes will spend weekly
visits to their Lower School classes discussing recent
game highlights as well as sharing their testimonies
of leading a Christian life. In turn, the Lower School
students will pray for their athletes, encourage them
to be the best they can be and attend as many games
as possible. Students will also attend a Homecoming
pep rally where they will have the opportunity to create
and display a sign to cheer their athletes on to victory!
Parents can get involved too, by spending time at home,
including their students’ athletes in daily prayer
and discussion time.
