4th Grade Classes Learn The Value of Recycling
For
the next six weeks, SFCS 4th Grade students will be
up to their necks in paper! As part of a Science study
on our country’s natural resources, students
will collect, weigh and measure paper from all 4th
and 5th Grade classrooms. This will give them a good
lesson on just how much paper we can save from going
into our landfill if we recycle! Students will also
visit the Enoree Landfill on Tuesday, March 8, for
a firsthand look at where all of our trash goes!
3rd Grade Classes Celebrate South Carolina History

songs from our state’s history and dances - from
traditional Indian dances to the Shag to share in this

SFCS CREATIVE HANDS 2005!
SFCS Art teacher, Teresa Hoover will be conducting
two summer camps for rising 7th and 8th Grade students
that will exercise creative hands and minds! Visual
Arts Camp will provide students an opportunity to develop
and expand their Art skills through special projects
that go above and beyond what is done during the school
year. It will include improving drawing skills and
imagination activities such as projects exploring outdoor
painting and drawing, 3-D sculpture, ceramics, 2-D

of what is taught in the Home Living Class. Participants
will explore more advanced recipes and techniques while
mastering the fundamentals of cooking. Each day the
students will prepare three to four different food
items, including appetizers, salads, entrees, vegetables,
breads and desserts. Throughout the week, cooking techniques
and skills will be practiced such as sautéing,
baking, broiling, roasting, simple knife skills, proper
food handling, meal planning and kitchen management.
