the 5th Grade study of the Civil War
novel Charley Skedaddle by Patricia
Beatty. The classes of Candy Jacobs
and Coby Dixon also attended the
performance of Freedom Train on
Tuesday, March 15, at the Peace
Center’s Gunter Theatre.
1st Grade Class Has A “Shocking” Discovery!
Thanks to the expertise of SFCS parent, James Asbury,
the 1st Grade students in Molly Spurgeon’s class
spent the day of Thursday, March 10, experimenting
with and learning all about electrons. Students used
balloons to experiment with static electricity and
made a battery out of lemons! A shockingly good time
was had by all.
3rd Grade Classes Are Columbia Bound!
Tuesday, March
29, marks the date for the annual 3rd Grade Trip
to Columbia, South Carolina. Students will depart at
8:30
a.m. to spend the day touring the State House and
museum in our state capital. The bus should be back
at school
between 5:00 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
Spend The Summer “Seaside” At
Summer At Shannon!
The theme for this year’s Summer At
Shannon is a fun-filled, sunny ocean/beach adventure
called Seaside With The Savior! The adventure begins
on Monday, June 6, with sessions running through Friday,
July 29. In addition to learning Bible lessons aimed
at developing Christian character, participants will
have the opportunity to be involved in music, art and
cooking classes! Space is limited so register today!
Summer at Shannon is available for SFCS students entering
PK3 through the 6th Grade. You may chose from full
or half day programs. Registration forms are available
in both the Lower and Middle School Offices and must
be turned into Grae Turner in the SFCS Early Childhood
Office. You will receive a follow-up letter confirming
your child’s enrollment. For more information,

2nd Grade Classes To Enjoy Peace Center Production
SFCS 2nd Grade classes will take a field trip on Tuesday,
March 29, at 10:00 a.m. to Greenville’s Peace
Center to see Alexander, Who’s Not Going to Move!
This play, by Judith Viorst, is about a boy named Alexander
and his family. Alexander’s dad has a new job
1000 miles away and they have to move. With the movers
at his bedroom door, Alexander agrees, with some incentives
to move, but says he will ‘not, not, not, not,
do you hear me, ever move AGAIN!!!’
4th Grade Classes To Enjoy A Greenville Zoo Sleep
Over!
SFCS 4th Grade classes will be treated to a behind-the-scenes
visit with the animals, enjoy animal-themed activities,
a midnight hike through the zoo and more, fun, educational
activities when they spend the annual “Night
at the Greenville Zoo.” The children will attend
in two groups, Friday, April 15, and Friday, April
29. Due to Zoo restrictions, there will be no late
arrivals or early dismissals allowed.
