The theme for this year’s
Summer At Shannon is a fun-filled, sunny ocean/ beach adventure called Seaside
With The Savior! The adventure begins on Monday, June 6, with sessions running
through Friday, July 29. In addition to learning Bible lessons aimed at developing
Christian character, participants will have the opportunity to be involved
in music, art and cooking classes! Space is limited so register today! Summer
at Shannon is available for SFCS students entering PK3 through the 6th Grade.
You may choose from full or half day programs. Registration forms are available
in both the Lower and Middle School Offices and may be turned in to Grae Turner
in the SFCS Early Childhood Office. You will receive a follow-up letter confirming

SFCS 5th Grade To Experience the History of Charleston
The SFCS 5th Grade classes of Coby Dixon and Candy
Jacobs will travel to Charleston, South Carolina
on Tuesday, April 12, departing at 7:15 a.m., and will
return on Wednesday, April 13, at 6:00 p.m. Classes
will experience firsthand the rich history of our
state.
Students will tour Fort Sumter, visit the IMAX show
and Aquarium and explore the markets of historic
Charleston. The trip is the culmination of a recent
Social Studies
unit on the Civil War and the reading of the novel
Charley Skedaddle, placed during the Civil War era.
SFCS 2nd Grade Science Fair
Students of Becky Eaton fine-tuned their thinking
caps and put together science experiments and projects
to present in a recent 2nd Grade Science Fair held
on Wednesday, March 16, and Thursday, March 17.
3rd Grade Celebrates SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORY!
Each
year, the 3rd Grade classes of Annette Boehm and
Margaret McCanless celebrate the rich history of South
Carolina
in a special musical. Students, once again, entertained
an endearing audience on Thursday, March 17, with
another memorable production.
4th & 5th Grade Spring
Musical Will STOMP!
Students
in the 4th and 5th Grades have been hard at work preparing
for the upcoming spring musical entitled, Joseph, From
the Pit to the Palace. The performance will be held
in the SFPC Sanctuary on Thursday, April 28, at 7:00
p.m. This unique musical incorporates STOMP music – a
high energy, fun-filled musical form that includes
the beating of pots, pans and trash cans. Children
participating in the performance will need to wear
a solid color t-shirt with no pictures or writing and
a pair of jeans. The shirt may be any color, except
white. A professional video of this performance is
available through Focal Point Media for a cost of $15
for VHS and $20 for DVD. Please contact Karen Waddell

4th Grade Classes To Enjoy A Greenville Zoo Sleep
Over!
SFCS 4th Grade classes will be treated to a behind-the-scenes
visit with the animals, enjoy animal-themed activities,
a midnight hike through the zoo and more, fun, educational
activities when they spend the annual “ Night
at the Greenville Zoo.” The children will attend
in two groups, Friday, April 15, and Friday, April
29. Due to Zoo restrictions, there will be no late
arrivals or early dismissals allowed.
2nd Grade Classes Take A Day To Study Weather
Rain
or shine, SFCS 2nd Grade students will spend the
day of Wednesday, April 6, at the Roper Mountain Science
Center where they will study the weather, learn how
to make weather predictions and experience how to
use
weather equipment. Students will depart at 9:00 a.m.
and return around 1:30 p.m. The children will also
hear about animal lifecycles from some local favorites,
Iggy the Iguana and Roper the Dog!
The Month of May Brings Mystery And Intrigue To SFCS!
Mark your calendar for the Upper
School Spring Drama – The
Mousetrap by Agatha Christie! The production will begin
with a short preview on Thursday, May 12, at 2:00 p.m.
to be followed by a full, ticketed performance at 3:30
p.m. There are also performances scheduled for Friday,
May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at 8:00 p.m. and Monday,
May 16, at 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss this exciting
mystery performance by the SFCS Upper School Drama
students!
SFCS Orchestra Concert/ Recital
The Orchestra
of Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) will host a concert/recital
on Friday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the Upper School
Gymnasium. The Upper School/Middle School Orchestra
will be joined by the Lower School Orchestra for several
of the evening’s selections. The audience will
also enjoy solos, trios and quartets.
***The evening
will also feature guest performer, noted jazz trumpeter
Charlie Parker! He will perform Leroy Anderson’s
Trumpeters Lullaby with the SFCS Orchestra and a jazz
piece called, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, with the SFCS
Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble.***
Any parents, relatives
or teachers who would like to join us and play for
this concert may email Orchestra Director Richard Eaton
at reaton@shannonforest.com to receive the music. All
who plan to participate should attend the first Monday
night rehearsal on Monday, April 4, at 7:00 p.m. in
the Orchestra portable. There will be four rehearsals
on the following dates, all beginning at 7:00 p.m.:
