Sheri’s
Caffe del giorno is excited and privileged to share
in celebrating the 35th Birthday of Shannon Forest
Christian School. Caffe del giorno, Italian for “ coffee
of the day,” will be setting up shop in the Upper
School Cafeteria on Friday, April 30, from 5:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. The coffee and smoothie shop will be offering
famous West End brewed coffee, incredible Fruit Smoothies,
Iced Chai, iced tea, fizzy Italian sodas and frozen
mochas. Sheri will also be selling her delicious Tiger
Brownies and cookies. Look for some well known faces
behind the counter throughout the evening serving up
tasty treats. Sheri’s will also donate 10% of
the proceeds from the evening to SFCS as a thank-you
for the continued support of so many people from the
school. In addition, Adam Fisher and his band, nova77
will be performing at 6:30 p.m. Come join us for some
great coffee and a great birthday bash celebrating
SFCS’s 35 years!
May 13 is a Great Day to Golf for SFCS!
Not long after
sunrise on Thursday, May 13, volunteer golfers and
their caddies - students of SFCS - will be finishing
up their juice and muffins, climbing into their golf
carts and teeing off for 100 holes of golf. This could
only mean one thing…
It’s time
for SFCS 11th Annual 100-Hole Golf Marathon!
Participants
will have the entire Southern Oaks Golf Course to themselves
for this great day of fellowship with parents, teachers,
students and friends of SFCS. “This is one of
the school’s major fund-raising events for the
year,” says Headmaster Doug McLaughlin who participated
in his first 100-Hole Marathon last year. “We
look forward to a wonderful day of getting to know
more parents and supporters of our school.” Anyone
who is passionate for the cause of Christ through Christian
education and is willing to secure the sponsors to
support them is invited to play. Golfers may be eligible
to win some great prizes, too! Prizes include a VIP
Certificate to play any of the Cliff’s Community
golf courses (foursome with carts included), golf pro
shop gift certificates, restaurant certificates and
more.
“ We are also looking for additional prizes,
$100-hole sponsors, that receive a sign at one of the
18 holes, and helpers to keep our golfers and caddies
fed and hydrated on this exhausting adventure,” says
Development Director, Steve Whaley. If you would like
to participate in any of these roles, or you would
like to sponsor one of the volunteer golfers, parents
or teachers, please contact Steve Whaley at 864.678.5113
or via email at swhaley@shannonforest.com.
SFCS Communiquè is Emailed to Your Home!
This
year, the new Crusader Communiqué has grown
in popularity not only with students, parents and faculty;
it has also become weekly reading for community leaders
and partners of Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS).
We have also received positive feedback from SFCS alumni
who read the newsletter to keep up-to-date with current
school news and events. In order to continue increasing
the distribution of the Communiqué and to deliver
it in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner,
our Lower School parents will join the Upper School
parents in receiving the Crusader Communiqué in
an electronic form via email. This edition is the first
to be distributed via email to all of our SFCS families.
Please be sure the school has your current email address
on file. You may contact Tracie Blakely at tblakely@shannonforest.com
with any updated information. You may also add other
family members and friends to the email distribution
list. There will also be a limited number of printed
copies of the newsletter placed in the lobbies of the
Lower School Office and the Main School Office lobby
located in the Middle School.
Cherokee Mission Trip Update

8th Grade students Vanessa
Hartmann
and Erin Earnest worked hard and
enjoyed their first Cherokee trip
last summer. |
The summer mission trip
to Cherokee is almost at maximum capacity with 83 people
signed up to participate. 8th Grade students, Vanessa
Hartmann and Erin Earnest (pictured in photo) went
on the trip for the first time last summer. “It
was hard work but fun,” said Erin. “It
was satisfying to help others.” Vanessa reported
that, “It was a good experience and I look forward
to going back this summer.” Fund-raising for
this important trip is slow and still an urgent need – both
in prayer and donations. Everyone is welcome to share
in this ministry with a contribution! Funds needed
for the trip total over $40,000.
