SFCS Makes Important Changes
In Parent/Teacher Communications System
ALL SCHOOL NEWS
June, 2004
To insure the most effective means of teachers
and parents communicating, “Schoolnotes.com” will
be utilized to post announcements to SFCS students
and parents. Through this method, parents of Upper
and Middle School students will also have a direct
link to teachers email that will take the place of
voice mail. To contact a teacher, please go to the
SFCS website www.shannonforest.com and click on the
item “Staff” under “Contact Us” in
the main menu bar. Here, you will find a link to “Schoolnotes.com.” After
typing in the school zip code (29615), you will find
SFCS teachers’ names listed in alphabetical order.
Parents needing to contact any Lower School teacher,
in PK through the 5th Grade, may still use the voice
mail system, however if parents need to follow-up on
any homework information, they must utilize www.schoolnotes.com.
Messages called in to the school offices will be written
down and put in the teachers’ boxes. Teachers
generally check their boxes in the mornings and the
afternoons.
Rain Couldn’t Dampen the Wonderful Cherokee
Experience
 |
The summer mission trip to Cherokee, North Carolina
was once again a wonderful experience. The group from
SFCS consisted of 84 people who all had a great time
of service, fellowship, fun and worship. Despite frequent
rain, the kids were able to finish all but one of their
construction projects. Their work was greatly appreciated
and resulted in tremendous improvements for several
people on the reservation. The Lord also blessed us
with safety. There were a couple of bee stings and
one student injured his knee playing basketball at
the camp, but otherwise the participants returned free
of injuries. The highlight of the week came when an
elderly man at the nursing home accepted Christ. The
group doing crafts with the residents reported that
there was a visible change in his countenance later
in the week after his decision. When all is said and
done…the change of even just one man… is
the whole reason for our trip.
SCRIP Is Back and You
Can Save On Tuition
The
SCRIP Program will not keep your children from losing
their coats, backpacks or books, but it will lower
your tuition! This program allows SFCS families to
purchase gift certificates for groceries, gas stations,
department stores and more with a portion of your
investment going toward your tuition. Order forms are
available
in both the Lower and Upper School Offices. You may
also place orders via email by sending your request
to mcollom@bellsouth.net. Karin Collom will be our
SCRIP representative for the year. Please feel free
to contact her if you have any questions at 862.9570.
School Supplies
SFCS assignment books will be arriving
soon. Students who pre-ordered books will receive
them in their classrooms. If you did not pre-order
an assignment
book or SFCS folders, extras will be available. Please
see Gina Powell in the Main Office or Elizabeth Sipe
in the Lower School Office.
SFCS T-Shirts Have Been Re-Ordered
Newly printed SFCS
t-shirts will be arriving soon to replace the shirts
that were incorrectly printed. Parents and students
will be notified when the new shirts arrive. It is
very important to turn in the incorrectly printed
shirt! Please turn in all incorrectly printed shirts
to your
home room teacher or school office. No new shirt
will be issued until the old one has been returned.
Thank
you so much for your assistance in this effort.
