Richard Eaton |
This week, we
continue our
welcome of
new SFCS teachers by featuring
Richard Eaton. He comes to us with
a wealth of teaching experience.
Eaton taught Math, Science, Bible,
Band and Spanish for ten years in
various private Christian schools.
He also organized and conducted the
South Carolina Association of
Christian Schools Arts Festival for
eight years. Eaton also founded the
Computer Electronics Program at
Greenville Tech and was a teacher
there for nine years. Adding to his
computer expertise, Eaton taught
Computer Repair, A+, Net+, and i-
Net+ certification for eight years at
the Newberry County Career
Center. If the name “Eaton” sounds familiar, it’s because
his wife, Becky teaches 2nd Grade in the Lower School. They have two grown
children, daughter Ruth and
son, Roger. Twin grandsons blessed
the Eaton’s ten months ago. Eaton keeps busy when not at school. He and
Becky both play clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone for their church orchestra.
He also loves to
sail on his 16.5’ catamaran and engineer his HO gauge and garden gauge
railroad.
Buckle Up, Helmet Up and Get Ready for the Key Club
Safety Fair! On Friday, September 17, at the Fall Family
Fellowship, the SFCS Upper School Key Club will cosponsor
a Child Safety Fair with the help of Safe Kids of Greenville
and the Greenville-Eastside Kiwanis Club. Spread the
news…all Lower School age children should bring
their bike helmets and be prepared to learn some valuable
lessons in biker safety! Valuable information on car
and water safety will also be available. There’s
no better kid than a safe kid. Come find out how YOU
can be a safe kid!
SCRIP CAN SAVE ON YOUR TUITION!
Once again, the 2004-2005 school year provides another
opportunity to earn dollars through the national SCRIP
Program. This program allows SFCS families to purchase
gift certificates for groceries, gas stations, department
stores and more, with a portion of your investment
going toward your tuition. Order forms will be available
in both the Lower and Upper School Offices and are
now online at www.shannonforest.com. Click on “ About
SFCS” and “Development.” An order
form is also attached to this newsletter on page 10.
You may also place orders via email by sending your
request to mcollom@bellsouth.net. Orders taken by each
Monday are delivered on Wednesday to the school offices.
Karin Collom will be our SCRIP representative for the
year. She will also have some SCRIP coupons on hand
should you wish to make a last minute purchase. Please
feel free to contact her if you have any questions
at 862.9570.

Baby Bottles Feed a Great Cause
The 2004-2005 Key Club is once again spearheading
the Baby Bottle fund-raising event to benefit the Piedmont
Women’s Center. During the month of September,
students in 4th through 12th Grades may deposit money
in the giant baby bottles labeled for each grade. The
bottles are located in the Upper School Cafeteria.
The bottles will be available for deposits every day
from the morning break until the end of the Upper School
lunch period. The grade that raises the most money
in their baby bottle will receive an ice cream party
to be held on Friday, October 1. All donations go to
the Piedmont Women’s Center to assist in purchasing
necessities such as diapers, bottles, Bibles and other
ministry tools to be used in helping women who have
had abortions, women thinking about an abortion or
women with children that need help and support. Help
save a life by supporting the Piedmont Women’s
Center. This event will end on Friday, September 24,
so don’t delay, deposit your money today!
