F. O. C. U. S. Program to Benefit SFCS Students In
2005-2006!
A gifted person is someone who shows, or has the
potential for showing, an exceptional level performance
in one or more areas of expression. — National
Association for Gifted Children
The 2005-2006 school year will see the advent of a
new SFCS Challenge Program called F.O.C.U.S. The purpose
of the program is to provide services to students who
demonstrate achievement and/or potential in the following
areas: general intellectual ability, specific academic
aptitude, creative thinking, leadership ability and
talent in visual and performing arts. The F.O.C.U.S.
program provides gifted learners with qualitatively
differentiated curriculum experiences which emphasize
understanding, application, analysis, evaluation and
creativity. While students in K5 through the 5th Grades
will be fully engaged in this program for the 2005-2006
school year, The in-services that will be created from
this program will embrace teachers in all levels –
PK3 through the12th Grade. SFCS is blessed to have Julie
Sellars leading this effort. Sellars has 16 years of
teaching experience and has been at SFCS for 9 years.
She will complete her Masters in Gifted Education from
Converse College in July 2005.
Each one should use whatever gift he has received
to serve others, faithfully administering God’s
grace in its various forms. --I Peter 4:10
Looking Ahead to the Crusader Achievement Fund!
Special gifts. Special needs. That’s what the
new Crusader Achievement Fund (CAF) is all about. SFCS
families may look forward to the opportunity to contribute
monthly or yearly support in a new avenue that will
provide financial support of our current families, faculty
and staff. The 2005 – 2006 school year will see
the advent of the new CAF Program that is designed to
provide unrestricted gifts, based on financial needs
and on specifics areas in which a student excels. There
will be awards distributed in the Upper, Middle and
Lower Schools. Participation in this tax deductible
program is encouraged no matter how small the gift.
To qualify for the CAF Program, a family must be enrolled
for a complete school year prior to submission of their
application. The roll out of this program is scheduled
for the 2005-2006 school year.
