SFPC Children Growing With God

SHANNON FOREST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
by Annah Woodward & Maya Sawyers

Leaders of Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church are dedicated to helping families grow in their walk with God. It is evident that the focus is more on bringing people closer to God rather than always stressing the rules of Christianity. They have adult and youth programs, and now, they have a unique children’s program called the Wednesday Night Round - Up.The purpose of this ministry is to share with children the importance of having a relationship with God and that Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

SFPC Children

“It’s vital that we teach these kids now,” says SFPC Pastor Mike Rybka, “They need to learn how to be leaders and faithful witnesses among their family and friends.”

Each Wednesday evening begins with dinner so that the whole family can be involved. Then, various age groups go to different classes. There, the focus is on Bible stories which tie into real-life issues like money, sharing faith, disagreements with friends and applying good morals and God in everyday life. The children also have opportunities to be involved in activities such as choir.

“It is wonderful to hear kids make public professions of their faith in Jesus Christ,” said Rybka.

This program has been very successful for the church and children from other churches are also attending. This program has benefited the children, the church and now the community.

We’re grateful to hear from our journalism students who have been hard at work reporting and writing about life at SFCS!
