Senior & Junior Homecoming
Representatives Speak Out
SHANNON FOREST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
Monday, January 26, 2004
We’re grateful to hear from our journalism
students who have been hard at work reporting and
writing about life at SFCS!
The SFCS Homecoming representatives from the senior
class are Shelley Carter, Laura Grant, Megan Sadie
and Jessica Patch. The junior class representatives
are Holly Seppala, Jessica Campisi, LeeAnn Funk and
Brooke Murphy. These girls presented their testimonies
during a recent chapel and each did a very nice job
of letting the student body get to know about them
as a person, A synopsis of what they shared follows
below:
Shelley Carter has been at SFCS since the 7th
Grade. Shelley was saved as a child and has grown up
in a Christian home. Her favorite memories are from
homecoming and prom dances. In her spare time she enjoys
singing, shopping and hanging out with friends. Her
life verse is Genesis 28:18.
Laura Grant came to Shannon
Forest in 2nd Grade. One of her most spiritual memories
was on the senior retreat when Mr. Phillips challenged
her in her walk with God. She loves going on mission
trips with the school and all of the Senior & Junior
Homecoming Representatives Speak Out Special Olympics
Festivals. Her hobbies include dance, church and spending
time with friends. Laura’s life verse is Psalm
91:14-16.
Megan Sadie is in her first year at SFCS.
She loves the atmosphere and says it is a huge change
from public school. Megan also attends church at SFPC
and is on the Leadership Team. She became a Christian
on a mission trip with her church and has maintained
her relationship with the Lord. Her favorite verse
is John 9:23.
Jessica Patch was ill and not able to
give her speech in chapel. Knowing her heart, the staff
wanted our readers to know that her life verse is I
Peter 3:15-17.
Holly Seppala spoke about her love for
the mission field. She shared some of her journal from
a trip to Jamaica where she led others to Christ and
realized what a better relationship with God could
do for her as well. Holly also gave her life verse
Psalm 119:76.
LeeAnn Funk shared her favorite Bible
verse, Psalm 121. She told us about her family and
her salvation. She became closer to God, she said,
when going on a trip with SFCS. She thanked everyone
for her nomination and showed gratitude for this school.
Brooke Murphy was saved at the age of five and since
then has been growing in her relationship with God.
She was brought up in a Christian home and is very
appreciative to be at Shannon Forest with the caring
teachers and Christian environment. She, as well as
many other high school students, said that Windy Gap
has been her favorite experience at SFCS. Brooke’s
life verse is Philippians 1:20.
Jessica Campisi was
also ill and unable to give her speech. We wanted
our readers to know that her life verse is I Peter
5:7.
All of these girls deserve the title of representing
SFCS during our Homecoming celebration and have done
so much to add to this school.
The sophomore and
freshmen young ladies will give their testimonies
on Wednesday,
January 28, in the weekly chapel.
