“
Now, don’t get lost!” |
The
senior trip to New York was nothing short of a blessing
from God. The students were wonderful, the
weather was beautiful and we made it there and back
safely without any difficulty. Visiting the “Big
Apple” and seeing all the diversity always reminds
me of how wonderful it is to live in a free country.

“
Do we look like tourists?” |
We managed to squeeze in the “must see” locations
such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street,
St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Times Square, Grand
Central Station, the Empire State Building, Central
Park, 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center and the Metropolitan
Museum. In addition, the students visited the World
Trade Center site. They reflected on those who perished
at the hands of terrorists who seek to destroy our
way of life and the brave men and women who work
to protect us from them. There was also lots of time
to
experience the various cultures and cuisine in China
Town and Little Italy. We also experienced the culture
and cuisine at Shea Stadium as we ate hot dogs and
watched the Mets play before the enthusiastic New
Yorkers all around us.
Whether we were watching a musical from
the balcony of a Broadway theater, riding a subway
train beneath the streets or on the corner buying knock-off
merchandise from street peddlers, we were having a
good time—together.
