SFCS Senior Honored
with Wingate Merit Award
SFCS senior Hunter Patterson is the recipient of a
Wingate University Merit Award.

Hunter, the
son of Frank and Frances Patterson, will be
attending Wingate next fall. The honor is
presented to students based on academic
performance and demonstration of a high degree
of leadership and morals. Congratulations,
Hunter!

Counselor’s Corner Parents and Students In 7th
- 12th Grades! To be considered for induction in the
National Honor Society or Junior Honor Society, you
must turn in your student information sheet that was
distributed at the beginning of the year. If you have
not completed the sheet, please do so no later than
Wednesday, January 21. Turn in all information sheets
to Mrs. Culpepper or Mr. Phillips in order to be considered
for this honor.
To
Win Or Not To Win!

Sophomore Maggie Smith is the winner of the
Shannon Forest Christian School Shakespeare
Competition. Held on Monday, January 5, Smith
performed a monologue and sonnet in the first
phase of the National Shakespeare Competition.
Smith will go on to compete in the English
Speaking Union Competition at the Warehouse
Theatre on Tuesday, February 3. She will compete
with other high school winners from private
and public schools in the Greenville area for
an all expense paid trip to New York. In New
York, students will compete on the national
level for a chance to win an all expenses paid
trip to Great Britain to attend a summer course
in Theatre Arts. SFCS Senior Hunter Patterson
took second place. |
The College & Career Class Wants You
The College & Career Class is looking for guest speakers who can inform and
enlighten students about their current or past occupations. Parents, please consider
sharing your careers with our students. The class is
scheduled on “A” days from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. If you would like
to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Candy Jacobs at 678-5154 or Ms. Jessica Gilbert
at 678-5167.
SFCS Student Learn Respect of Themselves and Others
Shannon Forest Christian School and Heritage Community
Services will work together to educate 7th, 8th & 9th
Grade students on the importance of abstaining from
sexual activity outside of marriage, appreciation of
and respect for self and others; and basic decision
making skills. Classes will be divided by gender and
be taught
by a teacher of the same gender. The Abstinence Education
Program will begin on Tuesday, January 20 and run through
Monday, January 26. Classes will run from 8:10 a.m.
to 9:50 a.m. each day.
Where In The World...?
The SFCS Geography Bee will be held on Monday, January
12, at 1:30 p.m. in the SFPC Sanctuary. Competing in
the bee will be the ten contestants who won the preliminary
round. Contestants include two students from each of
the 4th through 8th Grades. The winner of the final
round will take a written test which is sent to National
Geographic. One hundred students from each state are
then selected to compete at the state level. State
winners will compete at the national level.

New elective offerings,
enhanced Fine Arts opportunities and modified
scheduling in the Middle School are just a few of the

to be discussed. All Upper School informational
meetings will take place in Room 103A (Lower Level
Meeting
Room),
Lower School Campus, Building 300. Please mark
your calendars and plan to attend these important
meetings.
