interested in holding an office for the 2004-2005
school year may sign-up in
Mrs. Holcombe’s Room over the next two weeks. For more information on

Volunteers Needed At The Kiwanis Family
Buckle-Up Car
Seat Check
Volunteers are needed to help take
children’s pictures and fingerprints for identification cards. The event
will be held on Saturday, February 14, from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Kevin Whitaker
Chevrolet on Laurens Road. In addition, three people are needed to dress as crash
dummies
and one person is needed to dress as “ Buddy the Bear.” To volunteer,
please sign up on the Key Club bulletin board in the Upper School Building next
to Mrs. Overby’s
Room. For more information, contact

Key Club Carolinas District Convention
The Carolinas
District Convention will be held on Friday, March 26,
through Sunday, March 28, at the
Sheraton Imperial Hotel at Triangle
Research Park in Durham, NC. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people
and learn about leadership and service. If you can and want to go to the convention,
sign up on the Key Club bulletin board by Monday, February 2, and see Ben Van
Dyke or Mrs. Holcombe for more information on cost and travel. Prices range from
$135 to $190 per person.

Parlez-vous français? Mrs. Candy Jacobs and Mr. Jeff Phillips will be
offering trips to Spain and Canada in 2005. Informational meetings will be held
in Mrs.
Jacobs’ Room the week of
February 9 –13, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to discuss both trips. An enrollment
fee of a $95 deposit will be collected through Wednesday, February 25, at which
time it will be determined if there is sufficient interest. The trips are available
to students who will be rising 9th Grade students for the 2005 school year. Current
7th Grade students are included in this group. Planning early gives each traveler
the advantage of
paying for the trip over a year’s time. It also locks in a lower rate for

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony Date Change
Due to 1st semester testing being later this year, the National Honor
Society Induction Ceremony has been changed from Sunday,
February 22, to Sunday, March
14, at 2:00 p.m. in the SFPC Sanctuary.

Furman University
Summer Programs
SFCS juniors and seniors… Furman University is offering eight summer programs
covering a wide range of topics including: french, leadership, writing, computer
science, graphic design, theatre, law and health. These one and two-week programs
are taught by members of the Furman faculty. For more information, visit the

7th & 8th Grade
Valentine’s Dance
All SFCS 7th and 8th Grade students are
invited to spend Saturday,
February 14, at a special
Valentine’s Day Dance! The dance
will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. in the Multi-purpose
Room of the Lower School 300
Building and will include a DJ and
Valentine’s Day treats. Attire is dressy casual, within SFCS
dress code guidelines. No jeans or evening wear, please. For more

Parents of Teens…Don’t Miss This Seminar!
SFCS Upper School will offer an important parenting
seminar on Friday, February
27, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. All parents of 5th through
12th Grade students are invited to attend a workshop entitled Coming
Along Side - Enjoying the Ride
With Your Child Through the Teenage Years. This forum will be conducted
by SFCS staff. It will engage parents in the celebration of teenagers
while providing
practical suggestions, through discussion and small group activities,
for those seeking to support their children through these critical
years of development.
This workshop will be conducted in Rooms 103A and 103B of the Lower
School Campus 300 Building. Reservations are requested and refreshments
will be provided. Please
call the Upper School office at 678.5115 to reserve a space.
