SFCS Students Collect Spare Change
to Spare Lives
UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
Monday, April 19, 2004
SFCS Students in 6th through 12th Grades will spend
the week of April 14 through the 21, searching through
pockets, purses and couch cushions for all the spare
change they can find. The grade that raises the most
money will receive a free pizza party. All the money
collected will go to help the American Cancer Society.
Junior/Senior Prom Will Be All Candlelight & Roses!
SFCS juniors and seniors will celebrate the fast-approaching
end of the school year with a prom themed, Candlelight & Roses.
The event will be held at the Thornblade Country Club
on Saturday, May 1, from 8:00 p.m. until midnight.
Students will enjoy music from the band, Alley Cats.
Buy Your Favorite Books at the Upper School Book Fair!
Spring is here and so is the SFCS Upper School Book
Fair. Students in 4th through 12th Grades will be
able to purchase books from Monday, May 3, through
Thursday,
May 6, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. each day. Proceeds
from the Book Fair will be used to buy new Accelerated
Reader tests, books and other needed items for the
Library.
Stanford Testing News
• Students in 6th through 11th Grades have been
assigned a specific teacher for the Stanford Achievement
testing next week. Students will report to that teacher
each day at 8:10 a.m. Assignment rosters are posted
outside of Mrs. Powell’s and Mrs. Culpepper’s
Offices where students may check their assigned teacher.
•
Seniors
are not testing, but should arrive for 1st period at
10:50 a.m. on Monday, April 19 and Tuesday, April 20.
•
Seniors
must arrive at 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21.
•
Please
refer to the schedules posted on the doors if you have
any questions.
• It is very important that all students arrive
on time because there will be no makeup tests. Anyone
who arrives after 8:10 a.m. will be held in the Main
Office until the first sub-test is completed and then
sent to class. For any sub-tests that are missed, that
section of your score report will either be blank or
will say “not attempted.”
Drama Students Enjoy A Glimpse Into the Future

Upper
School Drama students will travel to Bob Jones University
to attend a production of “A Midsummer Night’s
Dream” on Monday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. The Shannon
Players are planning a performance of this play next
spring.
2004 Baccalaureate Service
The Shannon Forest Christian
School and Presbyterian Church body will join together
in a time of worship on Sunday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m.
in the church sanctuary to celebrate the work the
Lord has begun in the lives of our 2004 graduates.
Pastor
Mike Rybka will be joined by parents, faculty and
administrators for this wonderful event. All are invited
to attend.
Drama Day Full of Fun and Inspiration!

Other SFCS
Drama events also included the recent 5th and 6th
Grade Drama Days. Students spent the day testing their
dramatic
abilities, broadening their imaginations and fine-tuning
their performance skills. They took classes in voice
and diction, characterization, improvisation and
theatre games.
Shannon Players to Present Original Play
The Shannon
Players will present the play, Friends, Romans, and
Countryfolk– an original work written by our
own, Alvin Sell. “The talented kids here at Shannon
motivated me to write the play,” said Sell. “I
had several of them in mind as I created the characters.” Sell
also authored a book titled, Ever Learning. It is a
novel which incorporates apologetics. SFCS students
read it during their course in Understanding the Times.
The Upper School drama will be presented on Thursday,
May 6 at 1:45 p.m., Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May
8, – both 8:00 p.m. performances in the SFCS
Upper School Gymnasium. Tickets are $5.00 for students
and $7.00 for adults and may be purchased in both the
Middle School and Lower School Offices. For ticket
