SFCS juniors Adam Growblewski and Joseph Sell have been
selected by the faculty to attend the prestigious Palmetto State
Boys Program to be held from Sunday, June 5, through
Saturday, June 11, on the USC Campus. This American
Legion's Boys State program was established in 1935 and is a
unique way for young men to learn about the American
system of government by taking part in a mock
governmental system. Participants will learn
about state, city and local government and how
the political process works in our state. During their course of

The reigning Miss South Carolina, Ashley
Wood, recently spoke at an Upper School
Chapel. She reminded students of the
importance of setting goals and priorities.
Most importantly, Wood shared that the
decisions you make today will affect you for
a lifetime. She added that the choices you
make today will be with you for an eternity. |
Please be in prayer for God's blessings on us as we prepare for our trip
and as we seek to impact the community of John's Island for Jesus Christ.
SFCS Students Set for
Summer Mission Trip to Israel
Sunday, May 29, through Friday, June 10, will be days that are sure to
change the lives of a group of SFCS seniors, juniors and parents as Upper School
teacher D'Anne Weaver leads them on a mission trip to Jerusalem.
Roni Gozlan is a 32-year-old Israeli who lost both of his legs when he absorbed
the fallout of an explosion in an attempt to stop a suicide bomber in June, 2002. Gozlan and his wife, Shira are Orthodox Jews who have three children that they
struggle to provide for after his life was forever changed by this event.
Zion David was a 53-year-old Israeli who was shot in the head and killed by
Palestinian terrorists in a roadside ambush north of Jerusalem in May, 2003. David
had stopped for morning prayers when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, causing
him to lose control and crash. His wife, Etti is alone and responsible for raising
their six children, the youngest of whom has Down's Syndrome.
David Cohen was 28-years-old when he was shot by four Palestinian terrorists
while driving in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba in July, 2001. He was a
building contractor who had just received a new contract to build a youth center in
the area. His wife, Edna and two children must go on without him.
These are some of the families that eight Shannon Forest Christian Scbool
students, two parents and a teacher will minister to as they travel to Jerusalem on May 29th, 2005. Once there, the students will minister to non-believers in their homes as they repair, paint, clean and form relationships that will have an eternal
affect. Many of these families have never had any contact with Christians and are
Orthodox Jews. They are without hope, burdened by their pain and seeking God's
face. Please pray for those who are making this journey and that they will bring
peace to Jerusalem. James 1:27 reads: Pure religion and undefiled before God
and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Please hold these students up in prayer as they attempt to raise the funds
needed to make their journey and as they prepare themselves to be used by God
for His Glory. If you would like to make a donation the help any of these
students or those going on the summer mission trip to Barrier Island,
please send your donation in to any School Office with the appropriate
student's name on the envelope. Thank you for your support in SFCS' mission
to spread Christ's Word and Love to the world.
