SFCS
junior Maggie Smith has been selected to participate
in the National Youth Leadership
Forum on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy (NYLF/DID)
taking place in Washington, D.C. from Tuesday, October
12, through Sunday, October 17. Having demonstrated
academic achievement and an interest in a career related
to national security, Smith will join approximately
400 outstanding high school juniors and seniors from
across the United States at the forum. The curriculum
for the Forum on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy
is based on actual world events. It allows participants
to learn from examples set by previous generations
of leaders and it encourages them to develop plans
that will take our nation into the future. Throughout
the forum, Smith will examine how the United States
plans for peace and prepares for crisis. She will also
meet leaders from key agencies and institutions. NYLF
is a nonprofit, educational organization committed
to empowering young people to make well-informed career
choices.
