Crusaders Finish Season In Quarterfinals

          October 31, 2011 - The Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) Varsity Men's Soccer team wrapped up their 2011 season this past week with a 4-0 loss in the NCISAA Quarterfinals. On Tuesday, October 25, the team traveled to Grace Christian of Sanford to take on the #2 seed. The game started slow for the Crusaders and Grace took advantage of the opportunity. A misplayed ball in the box led to a wide open net and goal for the 1-0 lead. Minutes later the score went to 2-0. Late into the first half, the Crusaders began to settle down steady play continued into the second half. Rodrigo Rojas came into the game and provided a spark getting a shot on goal and setting up Devon Tyson for an attempt, but the Grace goalkeeper saved both. The Crusaders continued to work hard and frustrate the other team, but still could not break down Sanford's defense. Grace eventually added two late goals to finish off the scoring. "We played a very good team today," said SFCS Head Coach Scott Simmons. " I'm proud of the guys for continuing to fight after going down early." 
          The Crusaders finish the season with a 4-13 record, but finished with their third straight, top eight state finish. The Crusaders will look forward to next year when they return 16 of their 17 players including junior Brandon Troka who was named to the CAA All-Conference team this season.
