Social Studies
The goal of the Upper School Social Studies Department is to promote the following concepts and equip students to articulate these concepts using logic and evidence:
- History is guided by a Sovereign God
- Basic human rights are endowed by God and it is the role of legitimate governments to secure such rights.
- Human laws are valid to the extent they reflect Natural Law that is revealed to man by God through General and Special Revelation.
- Western Christian Civilization is not without faults but nevertheless should be celebrated for its contributions.
- Free market capitalism is the best economic system because it forces sinful people to provide service in order to experience personal success.
- All religions should be studied and respected but they are mutually exclusive with Christianity.
- Christianity provides man with the most logical world view as related to the basic questions facing humanity.
