SFCS Varsity Swimmers Enjoy a Strong Finish at State:

          The Shannon Forest Christian School (SFCS) Varsity Swim teams competed in the 1A/2A State Championship Swim Meet on Monday, February 20, at a new, state-of-the-art swim facility in Greensboro, North Carolina. The meet was delayed four hours due to an overnight snow, but the Crusaders did not let the weather cool their spirits. With just seven swimmers, the Boys' team finished 4th in the state out of 28 teams. Drew Still earned 1st in the state and won the gold medal in the 500 Free. He also placed 3rd, winning the bronze, in the 200 free and set a new team record with the time of 1:51.81. The Boys' 200 free relay with Kyle Bradley, Miko Aragon, Nicholas Miron, and Still swam to a 3rd place finish capturing the bronze medal. Bradley placed 5th in the 200 Free and 4th in the 100 Breast. He also set a new team record with a 1:06.58 finish. Aragon had two solid swims for the team by placing 4th in the state in the 100 Fly and 8th in the 200IM. The Boys' 400 Free relay came in 4th with Bradley, Aragon, Luke Horne, and Still.
          With just seven swimmers, the Crusader Girls' team finished 11th in the state out of 26 teams. Emma Knight took 3rd place bronze and broke the team record in the 50 Free with a 26.43 time. She also placed 6th in the 100 Back. The Girls' team 200 Medley Relay placed 8th with Rachel Graham, Elizabeth Ellis, E. Knight, and Katherine Roach and their 400 free relay placed 9th with E. Knight, C. Knight, Roach, and Graham. Most of the swimmers had their best times of the season and each swimmer represented their school with great zeal. It was an exciting finish this year's season.
