Shannon Forest Lower School is one of the few elementary level schools in Greenville County featuring a state-of-the-art STEM Lab.  The Innovations STEM Lab is a fun, open space that invites collaboration and creativity among our Kindergarten - 5th Grade students.  

Develop social skills and cooperation
Enjoy project - based learning
Apply knowledge to real-life situations
Use technology to engineer solutions to actual global problems, such as building bridges or supplying water

Transitional Kindergarten - 5th Grade students visit the lab weekly to use materials such as:
3D Printers
Computer Coding
Dash and Dot Robots
Spheros Robots
Ollie Robots
littleBits: Electronic Building Blocks
Makey Makey

Additional materials such as Legos, K’Nex, Magnetic 3D shapes, Marvel Marbles, Play-Doh, cardboard, paper and scissors

By working through problems collaboratively, students understand the variables involved in the problem and are able see the viewpoints of others.  Students will work through the design thinking process as the STEM teacher facilitates.
