As a school community, the International Host Family Program has held a special place in the hearts of international students. Hosting a foreign exchange student in your home is an opportunity for your family to open their eyes to whole new world.  Sharing your home with an international student and sharing your culture, language, customs and lifestyle will be the greatest blessing you can share with a child from a foreign country. You will increase global awareness in your home, share and exchange ideas, as well as adopt a new son or daughter into your family.  You may only have your student for a year, but they will be a part of your family for a lifetime!

Here are a few benefits of being a part of our International Host Family Program:

  • Experience the fun of having a new family member to love
  • Increase cultural awareness in your family
  • Support diversity and cross-cultural awareness
  • Help to make a difference in your home, neighborhood, school and the world
  • Cultivate an international friendship that lasts a lifetime
  • Develop deeper family ties across the world
  • Provide an opportunity for a child to have an American education
The International Host Family Program is available to any Shannon Forest family wanting to get involved with our International Program and to local churches and community members that believe in our mission as a school. Our students will come to us after an extensive application and interview process and will have a level of English language acquisition necessary to be successful at Shannon Forest Christian School.  They are responsible for all of their own personal expenses.  You would be responsible to bring them into your home and treat them like one of your own.
