Crusader Track Team Dominates At Region Meet

The Varsity Crusader Track team raced to new records and multiple victories in last Saturday’s SCISA 1-2A Region Track and Field Championship Meet.  Our Lady Crusaders earned the 2019 Region Champion spot with a total of 122 team points! The team won 13 of the 17 events they entered, sweeping every sprint, field event and relay.  The 2nd place team finished with half of those points at 61. Shannon’s Boys team took the runner-up spot with 61 points.  The following is a breakdown of individual victories:

Girls
High Jump - Magdalena Birkner and Alex Svacha both tied the region record at 4’8” held by our own high jump coach and Shannon Forest graduate Veronika Birkner.  Magdalena won based off of attempts with Alex coming in 2nd.
Disc - Lexii McDowell with a new region record of 76'9"
Shot - Lexii McDowell
Pole Vault - Alex Svacha with a new region record of 11'
Triple Jump - Mary Elise Clement 
Long Jump - Aubri Karr
100 Hurdles - Mary Elise Clement
100M - Morgan Rice-Weber with a new region record of 12.7 seconds
200M - Megan Rice-Weber
400M - Morgan Rice-Weber
4x100M Relay - Aubri Karr, Ansley Karr, Megan Rice-Weber, Alex Svacha
4x400M Relay - Aubri Karr, Ansley Karr, Megan Rice-Weber, Morgan Rice-Weber

4x800M Relay - Aubrey Bouvier, Claire Butcher, Alyssa Heaton, Cara Grace Phillips

110 Hurdles - Luke Alsborg 

Head Coach Jynne Stowe had this to say about the winning day, “We are blessed to coach kids who bought into what we were doing as coaches and who were willing to rise to a level of excellence we set for them. These kids have pushed their bodies and their minds beyond what they believed was possible. They have represented Shannon and represented Christ and have competed with integrity, determination and strength.  This is why I am at Shannon...thank you all!”
