Battle Of The Books
A team of 15 Shannon Forest 4th & 5th Grade students recently participated in the SCISA Battle of the Books tournament. Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program in which students read from a pre-defined booklist. On Battle Day, the students are awarded points for correctly answering questions about the books. Shannon took 3rd Place in the Regional battle and placed 10th out of a total of 33 participating schools. Congratulations, Crusaders!
Lower School Toy Drive Exceeds Goal
The Lower School toy drive brought in 342 toys for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots campaign this year. This topped the original goal of 250 toys! Shannon Forest IGNITE students planned and organized the toy drive, hoping to beat last year’s total of 242 toys. Thank you to everyone who participated. Before the toys are picked up this week, all of the Lower School students and teachers will pray over the toys and for the children who will receive them. God is so good!
Honoring our Veterans
The Lower School Veterans Day program will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 8:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Family and friends who have served in the military in the past, or are currently serving, are invited to join us for a time of songs, prayer, and celebration in their honor. There will also be a picture display in the Lower School featuring our service men and women. Pictures can be sent in with your child to school and are due by Friday, November 2. Please label your pictures with the person’s name, rank (if possible), branch of service, and connection to the Shannon student. For more information contact Julie Sellars at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A GRAND Time Was Had By All!
Despite the light rain showers, Grandparents Day 2018 was a wonderful day of celebrating 50 years of GRANDparents!
